Gosh, I really dislike the comments...all of them! I also really dislike the results. In a way I kind of felt half-hearted about the challenge. I personally think that the whole idea was a bit bad, it made me feel like I was stealing...which isn't good. And how on earth could it have been judged? Each outfit is completely different! I think if more guidelines were given, judging would be far more easier and it would also be easier for the contestants. As well as it being easier, I think judging would be far more understandable. I really didn't like the results (although I think ceazar deserved first place), sparklefly really shouldn't have gone, her design was amazing (and I'm not just saying that because it was based on my sketch). To be honest, I kind of feel that nobody should've gone, like the Team Up challenge. Like with the previous Accessorize challenge you could sort of understand the final decision. But this with this challenge it just seemed so...wrong. Giving some one some one else's concept and then judging them from their final piece is just kind of wrong. In my opinion, people should have gotten credit for their sketch as well as our final design. If Vivienne Westwood went up to Jimmy Choo and gave him a sketch for a shoe design, it would be classed as a collaboration...wouldn't it? I don't know, it just didn't seem right. The comments were also pretty brash and horrible...worse than they usually are. Totally rude and just plain awful. There was no "although -insert names here- didn't do this, they could have done this instead..." There's just no guide for where to move on or how to improve, it's just negative, negative, negative!
Whenever some one is first their comments are of total praise...so I won't go into ceazar's comment.
wakasashe-fashion... to tell the truth, to me, it didn't seem like you changed the design very much. The differences I saw were the back, the stripe on the pants, and the ruffled hem on the jacket and sleeves. True, it might be your design asthetic...but it didn't really seem like a challenge for you. Well I'm sorry to say it, but from catzilla's amazingly detailed sketch there isn't much that you can change! I personally feel that wakashe-fashion was very limited with what he could do, but that's not his fault nor catzilla's. It was the challenge's.
catzilla It was a little ho hum for me. The chiffon top with the vest and the skirt with fluted hem..yes..but...It was a bit too common sillouette for you. we know you do ready-to-wear and we totally admire that, yes the design was you but I feel as if I've seen it before...that skirt or maybe the vest. I'm merley releived that you're still in! Ok, so you didn't like it...no need to be a total jerk about it. And that last commet is totally out of order, how on earth can you say that to some one? Well, I'm merely releived that this thing has managed to go on for four cycles!
OUT:sparklefly The design was palaple...and was I the only one that didn't love it?I was releved to see that the pooping chiffon bustle had been removed. I definatly thought it was a very well exictued design, but for me the colors were a bit...LSU. I thought her deep violet dress with the exuberant gold trin and piping treatment looked great at first, but as I stared at it I thought: "Ive seen this before." To me, it was evident that the bustle would have benefited from more fabric, but it was too late for that. (Am I shedding a tear as I type this?) Firstly, I suggest you use spell check. It isn't hard to use! I'm sorry but "pooping chiffon bustle" is the most childish thing I have ever heard in my life. Ok maybe it did look like that but it was a basic sketch, what you specifically asked for for the first part of the challenge. "(Am I shedding a tear as I type this?)" I'm sorry but I couldn't give two shits about how you feel...it must be so horrific for you *rolls eyes* Sparklefly's design was amazing, the colours, everything about it and you know it! To be honest, I thought it was going to win. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean that it had to lose, I think it's pretty poor that judging had to come down to your own warped personal view. That sucks big time, and you know it.
And lastly, my comment. panda-eyes...the dress wasn't as exuberant as I had expected. I was expecting more color (since he didn't list any that I am ware of) but the bolero was wonderfully exicuted. I wasn't in love with the "you can find this in the junior section" dress with the overlayer of chiffon, and the styling was way off. It was eluding, and I didn't have the patience to figure it out...
So what the hell does this mean, "you can find this in the junior section"? I'm sorry but what do the juniors where you live where? I don't mean to sound full of myself, but I seriously can not see a junior wearing that dress, unless they were dressing up in their big sister's clothes. You didn't have the patience to figure it out? Have I missed something? What is there to "figure out"? To be honest, it just sounds lazy.
So I've had it with this crap, who really cares. To be frank I'd love to see you do better. I'm kind of sick of this rubbish, everything is here and everything is there, nothing really makes sence. This whole contest is badly done.
I'm tired of it and I'm quite tempted to drop out.
I was going to post this in my DeviantART journal, but I know for a fact, people will be pety and I'll probably do poorly throughout the challenge.
I want to carry on mainly because I want to prove that I can do relatively well, and just to show that some one who designs clothes which are outside your narrow little box, can do quite well.
Good day and goonight!
